"Ho Ho Chinese Takeaway in Kenridge, Cape Town, is a proper hidden gem that’s been quietly dishing out some of the best Chinese takeaway in the Northern Suburbs for years. Tucked away in the little Kenridge centre, it looks unassuming from the outside, but one bite and you’ll understand the loyal following. The standout dish has to be their Sweet & Sour Chicken and Sweet & Sour Pork. Unlike the usual neon-red, syrupy versions you get elsewhere, Ho Ho makes theirs with real plum sauce that actually tastes like plums, not just sugar and food colouring. The sauce is perfectly balanced: tangy, lightly sweet, with a rich fruit depth that clings beautifully to the crispy batter. The chicken is always tender, the pork succulent, and the portions are genuinely generous. Add their vegetable fried rice or chow mein on the side and you’ve got a feast. Everything is freshly prepared, service is fast and friendly, and the prices remain surprisingly reasonable even in 2025. If you’re anywhere near Durbanville, Bellville or Brackenfell and craving proper Chinese takeaway, do yourself a favour and order from Ho Ho. Their sweet & sour dishes alone are worth the trip. "We ordered a large chicken chopped suey. The portion was generous and could be shared by 3 or 4 people. The food was well prepared and tasty. The only negative thing I can add, is that my wife found the chicken to be a bit dry, I didn't mind and enjoy my meal. I would highly recommend Ho Ho Take Away, will definitely be going back to try some of the other dishes."

"I have been coming to ho ho since a little girl their food is the best Chinese food I have ever eaten no other restaurant can compare to them. The quality of their food is amazing , my favourite the sweet and sour pork and stir fry. The owners of this restaurant is amazing and always so kind. Their portions are huge and amazing value for money."

"Ho ho's has the absolute best take a way chinese food. Their sushi is also good, and with a decent frozen food selection. This is a must do if you are in the area (try their sweet & sour sause), with a great lunch special. Be prepared, they have a minimum card spend (think R 150), so bring cash if you are buying for 1. They also do get busy, so phone ahead with your order."

"1st time trying this restaurant. Me and my husband shared the 'Couple special' for R175. I am amazed with the big portion size- we both had enough for leftovers the next day! Such delicious food, l also enjoyed the bowties and springrolls included. Will be back! In the photos- full portion in container and my half of the container on our plate at home."

"This is just a take away place, but always packed. The food is great and very affordable with a wide variety of options. They also have frozen packs of dumplings, fried pork etc. for sale in store. Portions are huge. The staff is friendly and very kind. You can call ahead and order for collections or you can order in store. I have never waited for more than 20 minutes after ordering in store. Lots of interesting sweets for kids and also a variety of imported soft drinks and canned bubble teas etc."
